Nazareth Village

We visited Nazareth Village - we stepped into the bible to a special place set up to reflect a working village in the time of Jesus. They aim to bring to life the Nazareth that Jesus knew. The workers wear traditional clothing and their buildings and tools are made using the same methods of 2000 years ago. We met the Shepherd and his sheep and met Joseph building in his workshop. We saw an ancient wine press and their cultivated vineyard. We saw traditional spinning method and making of cloth and sat in an replica synagogue where our guide read from a scroll of Scripture just as Jesus did.

Enjoying our traditional meal with food similar to what was common in Jesus' time.

In Nazareth meals were important occasions. It is no coincidence that many of Jesus' stories and most important encounters or feasts take place around meals or feasts. Despite their significance meals were quite simple and came only twice a day. Meat was usually limited to feast days and celebrations.
